Mississippi Test Requirements

Find your certification area below to determine which test(s) you need to take. For test prep materials, click the test title. Once you know which tests you should take, schedule your test.

Unless it’s specifically stated that a calculator is permitted or required for a particular test, you can’t use a calculator on any Praxis tests (see Calculator Use).

Score reporting

  • If you test in Mississippi at a test center or at home, and your Praxis profile address is in Mississippi, your score report will be sent automatically to the Mississippi Department of Education.
  • If you test outside Mississippi or your Praxis profile address is not in Mississippi, your scores are NOT automatically sent to the Mississippi Department of Education. To have your scores sent to the Mississippi Department of Education, you must select the Mississippi Department of Education (state code 7599) as a score recipient when you register.
  • For all methods of Praxis testing, to request additional score reports you must select the Mississippi Department of Education (state code 7599) with each additional score report request.

Tests required for all licensure areas

Beginning teachers in all content areas must pass all three Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) tests.

Teacher education program graduates are required to pass the Core tests specifically for admission into a teacher education program (unless they meet an institution's ACT® test score requirement).

Alternate route teacher candidates are required to pass the Core tests in order to obtain licensure.

Teacher education program graduates for all content areas must pass the Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) test that most closely matches the grade levels of the license sought. The PLT test is not required for alternate route candidates.
