Program of Alternative Certification for Educators (PACE)
South Carolina's PACE program is designed to recruit and train individuals to become professionally licensed educators. Teacher quality is vitally important to the success of South Carolina schools; we view the recruitment and hiring of teachers as a critical process in our efforts to improve the quality of our educational system.
Since 1984, South Carolina has recruited teachers from the ranks of people who graduated with college degrees outside education and who have worked in other fields. PACE teachers do particularly well in professional evaluations and bring a diversity of experience to the classroom that enriches education across the state.
If you are ready, willing and eligible to answer the call to teach, start the PACE process today. PACE is a competitive 3-year program leading to professional educator licensure.
PACE requirements include a:
bachelor's or master's degree in a particular qualifying licensure area
