Duy Pham is an associate psychometrician in the Research and Measurement Sciences area at ETS. He received the following degrees: a Ph.D. in research in educational measurement and psychometrics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2019, an M.A. in educational administration from Boston College in 2011, an M.S. in mathematics from the University of Paris 11 Orsay in 2005, and a B.A. in mathematics education from Hanoi National University of Education in 2003.
At ETS, he is the psychometric lead for the Initial English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) since December 2020 and psychometric backup for Summative ELPAC. In 2021, he joined two research scientists at ETS on a research project to explore the use of natural language processing to generate score and feedback for teacher performance transcripts in mathematics and science education. He serves as a reviewer for a few conferences such as National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME), American Education Research Association (AERA), and Northeastern Educational Research Association (NERA), and the journal Practical Assessment, Research, and Evaluation. Before joining ETS, he had internships with Curriculum Associates, ETS, and ACT. He has been a member of and volunteer for NCME, AERA, and NERA since 2014. His work and research interests focus on language assessments, learning progressions in STEM education, and online learning platforms.
