Terran Brown is an executive director overseeing item and platform development at ETS. He’s previously served as an executive director of psychometrics for the Psychometric Analysis & Research group at ETS, where he oversaw the technical and psychometric quality of several complex, large-scale student and teacher assessment programs. He earned a Ph.D. in education with an emphasis in quantitative research methodology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He also earned an M.S. in statistics from the University of California, Davis, and a B.A. in mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Brown’s research interests include test fairness, adaptive testing, automated scoring, and increasing access and equity in test development practices. Brown is a member of the National Council of Measurement in Education and the American Educational Research Association.
An avid believer that education has the power to positively change lives, Brown previously served as a school board member for 10 years.
