Debby Almonte

Debby Almonte is a director of client management at ETS in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Item Development Group specifically for NAEP Survey Questionnaires. The NAEP Survey Questionnaire team develops grade 4, 8, and 12 student, grade 4 and 8 teacher, and grade 4, 8, and 12 school administrator survey questionnaires for core (domain general), reading, mathematics, science, writing, civics, geography, U.S. history, economics, technology and engineering literacy, arts, and music. These survey questionnaires help contextualize NAEP student achievement and inform stakeholders and the general public about what students know and can do in different subject areas.

Almonte’s primary responsibilities include managing and overseeing all survey questionnaire development; serving as the primary contact to Alliance members and the client (Department of Education, National Center for Educational Statistics) for survey questionnaire development and operational tasks; overseeing the work of nine reports; and cocreating and comanaging budgets, contract extension tasks, and special studies for survey questionnaires. In this role, she collaborates with ETS colleagues in cognitive assessment development, data analysis, psychometrics, and reporting to ensure survey questionnaires are informative and useful for the general public.

She earned her Ph.D. in educational psychology from Fordham University. During her graduate studies, she conducted research on various parental, cultural, and media factors that influence the development of Latino adolescents.
