Abstract

This issue of ETS Policy Notes (Volume 1, No. 3) provides three articles that consider some concerns in science education. The first article, "A Precious Few: Interest of the College-Bound in the Quantitative Sciences," discusses the decline of the nation's scientific and engineering workforce. The second article, "A Straggler's View: The U.S. in the World of Science Education," highlights some findings of the International Assessment of Educational Progress. The third article is titled "Staying Power: Students Who Persist" (Thomas L. Hilton et al.).
