Abstract

The scale proposed by Tucker for the Academic Ability Test is designed to provide a score that is interpreted in terms of the level of difficulty of the task that the examinee can perform successfully. This type of interpretation is in direct contrast to the usual type of interpretation of a score in terms of the proportion of examinees in some specified group who obtain lower scores; or in terms of the level of the group (with respect to age, education, etc.) for which the given score represents average performance.
