Abstract

Simple formulas are derived for allocating administration time to the tests in a battery and for weighting the test scores so as to maximize the reliability of the resulting composite, the true score of the composite being specified in advance. It is shown that, except for sign, the optimum weight for any test depends only on the standard error of measurement of that test at unit time.
