Abstract

Parts of this paper were read at a symposium on "Experimental Approaches to Personality Assessment" in New York at the 1957 American Psychological Association Meetings. Evidence is presented that shows the important and subtle influences upon responses of stylistic components of item forms and illustrates how reliable measures of potentially useful stylistic dimensions may be generated from characteristic responses to the form of personality and attitude items as distinct from measures of content.
