Abstract

This paper is a slightly revised version of one presented at the symposium on "Interpretation of Educational Test Scores" in September 1957 at the American Psychological Association Convention. Difficulties with score scales are posed but the author shows that those difficulties do not prevent the measurement of growth; they merely require specification of the scale of measurement in terms of which conclusions are valid.
