This memorandum provides background on a study then underway in 1966 concerning prediction of success at Bronx Community College, and focuses on what may be unique about public community college students. Though no hard statistics were drawn from conversations with members of the faculty and administration, the interviewers were impressed that attrition from the terminal curricula or "career programs" seemed to reflect a rise in student motivation and goals as frequently as it did an educational defeat.
