Abstract

This paper was presented at the meetings of the American Psychological Association in New York on September 3, 1966. There are two processes that influence the socialization of children: what they are told and what they observe. This study was undertaken to establish paradigms to examine the effects on norm internalization and violation when instruction and observation are mutually supportive or antagonistic.
