Abstract

The placing of individuals into homogeneous groups, rather than treating all students alike, may have a significant impact on predictor-criterion relationships. A grouping variable, that can function in this manner is generally called a "moderator," since it can exert an important but indirect influence on how well a given selection instrument will work.
