Abstract

There is much discussion about student involvement in secondary and college levels in decisions about curriculum, faculty, rules, evaluation, speakers, and so on. The author discusses an aspect of the academic world in which he believes students can and should be involved-in the assessment of status and progress in their own reading. The emphasis is on the cognitive and practical since these are the most easily and most often measured attributes.
