Abstract

This memorandum is the manual for the VARAN (VARiance ANalysis) program, which is the latest addition to a series of computer programs for multivariate analysis of variance. As with earlier programs, analysis of variance, univariate and multivariate, is the main target of the program. Correlation analysis of all types is available with printout in the vernacular of correlation. in addition, VARAN include several styles of factor and component analysis complete with test of factorization and rotation techniques. Nine of the new capacities for analysis are listed. The VARAN program was written more in the style of a mathematical exercise in linear calculations than as a solution for specific statistical models. Sections of the manual are as follows: Introduction; Control Cards in Brief; Tables I through IV; Control Cards in Detail; Programming Notes; Mathematical Notes; Sample Input and Output; and Selected Bibliography.
