Abstract

Attachment studies vary along several dimensions. Time within the situation may be an important variable. Fifteen minutes of observation of year-old infants and their mothers reveals that proximity seeking and vocalization increase as a function of time while visual regard remains constant. The time dimension must be taken into account when studying sex differences as well as inconsistencies across various studies. (16pp.) Child Development, 1974, 45, 311-316.
