Abstract

PERT, acronym for Project Evaluation and Review Technique, is defined and described. The paper explains 1) how a PERT analysis is developed; 2) how to visually represent the stages, and the time and resources required for each, on index cards and flowcharts; 3) how to use a computer to estimate time required; 4) how PERT output is used; 5) how to eliminate negative slack time in a project; 6) how PERT is used to monitor a project; and 7) how a project manager can get everyone to comply with the PERT schedule.
