Although replicable size-value phenomena have been observed, no consensus obtains regarding their explanation. Toward assessing the tenability of contending formulations subclasses of size-value phenomena were defined, ontogenetic predictions for these subclasses were extrapolated from three different formulations, and these different predictions were tested in two ontogenetic studies. The findings support an explanation of size-value phenomena in terms of the role of schemata. (33pp.)
