Abstract

International Evaluation of Educational Achievement Tests of four skills in French (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) were developed for three educational levels and administered to about 30,000 students of French as a foreign language in eight countries as a part of the International Evaluation of Educational Achievement project. This report focuses on the design of the tests and their technical characteristics as revealed in data analyses. Problems of reliabililty, validity, and factor content are discussed, as well as the issue of whether the tests are equally valid for speakers of different languages. (96pp.)
