Abstract

Right/left ratios of integrated EEG amplitudes were computed for 9 field dependent and 8 field independent male college-age subjects. EEG's were recorded during performance of several cognitive tasks. Results indicated that field dependent subjects showed relatively greater left-hemisphere activation, while field independent subjects showed the reverse, i.e., relatively greater right-hemisphere activation. These results are consistent with earlier findings linking relative right-hemisphere activation with higher spatial ability. (17pp.)
