Abstract
Item analysis procedures are still based largely upon classical measurement theory. This report describes new derivations and computing routines that take better advantage of present computers and provide improved solutions to particular technical problems; e.g., non-normal distributions, omitted items, and sampling variations. The author, an emeritus professor of psychology at the University of Illinois, has been associated with ETS as staff member or regular consultant for more than forty years. His preface ties current item analysis techniques to hand methods that he and pre-ETS colleagues developed for the College Board in the 1940's. (200pp.)
