Abstract
This brief paper argues strongly for "sense-lining," breaking prose at points that make sense rather than at the end of a line" even when the sense-lined material takes more space on the printed page. Examples of sense-lining that considerably ease understanding of the material include selections from literature, instructions for the IRS form, and the AP Chemistry exam.
