Abstract

This Policy Information Report pulls together data to characterize the dropout problem in the U.S. Various dropout rates are provided and discussed for the nation as a whole, for states, and for large school districts. Data from the National Education Longitudinal Study of 1988 are analyzed to describe the characteristics of recent high school dropouts.
