Abstract

This Policy Information Report discusses ETS research that indicates how assessment can be used to support classroom instruction. This research is discussed in the context of recent theory and proposals to change the nature of testing and assessment. Using the results of this classroom-based research, some of the challenges that lie ahead are outlined.
