Abstract
A transportability study was conducted to determine how much of the content domain for secondary school teachers of social studies (as described by the task and knowledge statements found in the specifications of the Praxis secondary school exam for teachers of social studies) would be judged relevant to and important for the job of a licensed (certified) middle school teacher of social studies. The results of this study will be used to explore the possibility of developing a Praxis subject-specific assessment for middle school social studies teachers. This report describes the methods used to create the Job Analysis Inventory for Middle School Teachers of Social Studies, the job analysis survey, the statistical analyses conducted, and offers conclusions regarding the relevance of the secondary school content domain for newly licensed (certified) middle school teachers.
