Abstract

A transportability study was conducted to determine how much of the content domain for secondary school teachers of mathematics would be judged to be relevant to and important for the job of a licensed (certified) middle school teacher of mathematics. The results of this study will be used to explore the possibility of developing a Praxis subject-specific assessment for middle school teachers of mathematics based on a content domain initially developed for use with secondary school teachers of mathematics. This report describes the methods used to create the Job Analysis Inventory for Middle School Teachers of Mathematics, the job analysis survey, the statistical analyses conducted, and offers conclusions regarding the relevance of the secondary school content domain for newly licensed (certified) middle school teachers.
