Speaker: Narrator

The GACE® Program Admission assessment at home is a safe and convenient testing option that you can take right at home. It’s the same GACE® exam that you take at a test center. The only differences are, you use your own equipment, and you are monitored online by a human proctor.

To take the test at home, you will need: A desktop or laptop computer. It can be either a PC or a Mac. A camera that can be moved to show the proctor the entire room. A microphone. And a speaker. Headsets are not permitted for this test. For more specific details about equipment requirements, visit the GACE® Program Admission Assessment at Home website.

On-screen: [GACE® Software and System Check.]

You will need to download and install the ETS® Test Browser on the computer you will use for the test. To fully install the browser, you must run the file after downloading it.

Next, check your equipment by running the ProctorU® equipment check.

This will confirm that your computer, camera, microphone and speaker meet the requirements for the test.

On-screen: [GACE® Testing Room.]

Be sure that your room meets the requirements for testing. For the test, you must be in a room alone, preferably at home. Outdoor and public spaces are not permitted. Your computer must be on a desk or table, and you need to sit in a standard chair. The testing area must be clear of all items not approved for use during the test. Once you confirm that your equipment and testing room will meet the requirements for test day, you are ready to register.

On-screen: [GACE® Registration]

To register, log in to your GACE account and select Register for a Test. On the Search and Select Tests page, select which test you need to take. On the Schedule Tests page, select the option for GACE test at home. Choose a date and time for your test. Follow the directions to continue your registration, and pay for your test. When your order is complete, you’ll receive a confirmation email from ETS with your test order details and a link to launch your exam on test day.

On-screen: [GACE® Test Day Tips.]

Here are some tips to help you get ready for your test. To take notes during the test, you can use a whiteboard or a piece of paper inside a transparent sheet protector with an erasable marker. Don’t wear headphones or earphones. Bring a small mirror or your mobile phone for check in. And have your ID ready to show the proctor.

On-screen: [GACE® Starting Your Test.]

When it’s time for your test, use the link in your confirmation email, or on the home page of your GACE account. Be sure to check in within 12 minutes of your scheduled start time. Otherwise, your test will be cancelled. When you start your session, the proctor will walk you through the check-in process. You will need to show your ID, and show your computer screen using a small mirror or your mobile phone. Then you will use your computer camera to show a 360-degree view of the room.

On-screen: [GACE® During the Test.]

During the test, make sure that you can be seen by the proctor at all times. Avoid doing anything that may look suspicious, like talking out loud to yourself, or looking away from the screen. At the end of the test session, you will have the option to report or cancel your score. If you choose to report your scores, some, but not all, tests offer you an opportunity to view unofficial scores.

On-screen: [GACE® After the Test.]

You will receive your official scores in your GACE® account. When you will receive your official scores depends on which test you took. Check the GACE® website for more details.
