Coronavirus (COVID-19) HiSET® Test Updates

Test Postponements and Rescheduling

In light of the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), ETS wants test takers to be aware that the health and safety of the entire HiSET® community is our first priority. We remain committed to sharing up-to-date information and supporting the needs of HiSET test takers.

These locations are closed in response to local public health concerns around COVID-19. These closures may affect your ability to test at your preferred location. As changes are happening almost daily, please continue to check this list for additional updates.

Seat Availability

Test centers remain open in some areas. Students can still schedule appointments for available dates on the Scheduling Your HiSET Exam page. We encourage all test takers and test centers to follow all local and state restrictions imposed as a result of COVID-19.

Test center closures

How will I know my test center is closed?

ETS will continue to work closely with HiSET test centers and keep the HiSET community notified of any changes to test dates through our website. In the event of test cancellations, we also will personally reach out to test takers by email, and in the event of a same day test cancellation, we will notify you by phone.

If your HiSET test date is canceled or needs to be postponed, rest assured that you will be eligible to reschedule your test free of charge. In addition, if you want to cancel your HiSET test date during the COVID-19 pandemic, we will refund you in full for the cost of the HiSET test including any administrative fees. If you have any concerns regarding your HiSET test, contact our Customer Service team at 1-855-MyHiSET before 6 p.m. local time.

Note: Email messages from HiSET may land in your spam folder. To prevent this, add HiSET@ets.org to your contacts or filter these messages. For instructions on how to complete these steps, contact your email provider.

What if I am quarantined and cannot make my test date?

The well-being of HiSET test takers is of utmost importance. If you are concerned about traveling or cannot make your test date for any reason during this time period, please contact our Customer Service team immediately at 1-855-MyHiSET until 6 p.m. local time. If for any reason you are unable to contact us prior to your test date, please reach out to us at your earliest convenience and we will assist you in rescheduling your test to a future date without any additional fees. Requests made after a scheduled test date will be reviewed on an individual basis.

If I am not comfortable traveling to the test center, will I be able to reschedule for free?

The safety and health of HiSET test takers comes first. Please contact us at 1-855-MyHiSET before 6 p.m. local time prior to the day before your scheduled test time. Our Customer Service team is ready to be of assistance to reschedule your test to a future date without any additional fees.

Scoring delays

I took a HiSET test recently but haven't received any scores yet. What is the status of my test scores?

If you recently took a paper-based HiSET test, the results of your test(s) may be delayed due to COVID-19. We will inform you by email as soon as we return to our normal business functions. Once your scores are processed your results will be made available through your HiSET account. If you have any questions or concerns please contact our Customer Service team at 1-855-MyHiSET.

Is scoring for tests taken on the computer delayed as well?

Scoring for tests taken on the computer are not affected. If you took a computer-based test, you'll receive your scores within three to five business days, depending on the test subject. Your scores will be made available through your HiSET account. If you have any questions or concerns please contact our Customer Service team at 1-855-MyHiSET.

Disability Accommodation Requests

Please submit all Disability Accommodation Requests and supporting documents electronically via your HiSET account to ensure that we are able to receive your requests. Due to limited staffing, there could be delays in processing accommodation requests.

Voucher Orders

Please submit all voucher orders electronically, if possible. Due to local government guidelines, we are fulfilling orders remotely. Please allow three to five business days for processing.
