TOEFL iBT® Special Home Edition Now Available Worldwide

April 7, 2020

Dear TOEFL® score user,

On March 23, we announced the initial launch of the TOEFL iBT® Special Home Edition for selected locations. Today I am pleased to share with you that this at home testing solution is now available to test takers worldwide, except for Mainland China and Iran. This will help your applicants from around the world continue with their time-sensitive applications and plans.

The first administrations of the Special Home Edition were an operational success that confirmed our plans for a worldwide rollout. And the test has been well received both by the higher education community and students as a timely and valuable testing solution.

The TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition is identical in content, format and on-screen experience to the version taken at a test center. With multiple best-in-class security measures that use both live remote proctors for real-time human monitoring and artificial intelligence technology from ProctorU®, test takers now have a convenient and safe option for testing at home while test centers are closed due to the coronavirus.

The TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition is the same research-based, valid and reliable TOEFL iBT test of academic English from ETS you already know and trust, so there is no need to compromise your high standards for English-language testing by using unproven, nonsecure and low-quality home tests.

You will find more details about security measures and answers to other questions you may have on the TOEFL web page dedicated to this purpose.

I also invite you to learn more about this new test delivery method at an upcoming webinar. For information on available dates and to register, visit the At Home Testing Solutions webinar page. If you are in the U.K., please view the U.K. version. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at TOEFLnews@ets.org

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Srikant Gopal
