HiSET® Exam Fee Increase — What You Need to Know
ETS wants to provide the best value for our test takers, so we carefully weigh many factors when considering HiSET fees. We review test and service fees worldwide on a regular basis and adjust fees when and where necessary.
On January 1, 2019, as a result of increasing operational costs, the fee for computer-based subtests will be $10.75, a 75-cent increase, and $15 for paper-based exams, a $5 increase. All state and test center fees will still apply.
As a nonprofit organization, ETS does its best to keep test and service fees as low as possible. However, in order to maintain the quality, security and accessibility of the assessment for all test takers, it's necessary to periodically adjust fees.
Friendly Reminder from TAS — Important Changes for Returning 2018 Materials
As a reminder, 2018 test materials cannot be used in 2019 and must be returned to ETS. Based on policy and procedures, test books may not be kept for any reason after the 2018 testing year concludes. If a 2018 test is administered in 2019, it will not be scored.
Please return the following:
- Test books – send to the ETS warehouse, and remember to mark your shipment(s) with the center's name and HSTP number. All 2018 material must be received by January 31, 2019. Keep a record of the tracking numbers.
You may keep the following:
- Unused answer sheets – you may continue using the current answer sheet for 2019 testing.
- Ancillary materials – this includes all material in your return kits such as UPS® pouches, return envelopes and irregularity reports. These materials may continue to be used in 2019.
If you have any questions, please contact your TAS representative.
