Score Reporting
Institutions can start receiving TOEFL® Essentials™ score reports as soon as 6–8 days after the test (depending how they receive scores), with test takers receiving scores about 6 days after the test.
TOEFL Essentials scores are valid for 2 years from the test date and will be included in the test-taker data in the TOEFL® Search Service.
Institutions will have access to the same scoring services that they do for the TOEFL iBT® test. Note: Some services require an institution to update its data system to receive scores.
ETS® Data Manager
Registered users have easy, on-demand, secure access to test-taker information, including the TOEFL® Showcase™ feature, which will display TOEFL Essentials scores, additional measures of foundational skills (Vocabulary Knowledge and Sentence Construction), the Personal Video Statement, and sample Speaking and Writing responses.
Sign up for the ETS Data Manager
In the TOEFL Showcase feature, each score report automatically includes the writing and speaking samples, measures of foundational skills, and MyBest scores, so no action is required on your part.
You can also verify TOEFL Essentials scores with the TOEFL® Online Score Verification System (OSVS), using the test taker’s appointment number and date of birth. A blue button labeled View OSVS Score Data has been added to your ETS Data Manager home screen on the ETS Institutional Portal.
If you are using the Scorelink® service report format in the ETS® Data Manager, you will need to modify your system to accept new fields identified as "Filler." View an example of the new TOEFL® Score Reporting Record Layout. If you have any questions about this option, please contact Code Control at institutionportal@ets.org.
Automated Server-to-Server Feeds
Automatically download scores from the ETS server to a client server after a 1-time setup by your IT or technology staff. Data files containing TOEFL® scores are made available approximately twice a week via the internet.

Updating Your Data System
If you receive scores electronically, adding scores will require a minor change to your TOEFL test dataset layout, so that the scores can be available to you when they are first released in August 2021.
If you or your third-party vendor are using the Scorelink service delivery, view the new TOEFL® Score Reporting Record Layout. If you have any questions about this option, please contact Code Control at institutionportal@ets.org.
Paper Reports by Mail
For institutions still receiving them, paper score reports for the TOEFL Essentials test have security features to help prevent forgeries.
