How to Register for the TOEFL iBT Test

Registration is quick and easy! You can register online right now through your ETS account or by phone using the contact information for your country. See “How to Register” in the TOEFL iBT® Information Bulletin (PDF).

Don't Forget!

The name and date of birth you use when you register for the TOEFL iBT must exactly match the name and date of birth on the ID document you provide on test day. If this information doesn't match, you won't be able to take the test, and your test fee won't be refunded. See ID Requirements.

Planning ahead when scheduling your test date

It's important to consider your overall timeline when choosing a test date. You need to make sure scores will be sent prior to application deadlines, and you may want to leave time for retesting, if needed. Be sure to:

  • pick a test date at least 2 to 3 months before your earliest admissions deadline to ensure your scores will be reported in time
  • register for the test 4 months before your desired test date

Cancel or reschedule your test

The easiest way to cancel or reschedule a test is through your ETS account.

You can also cancel or reschedule by phone. Visit the TOEFL contact center to find local information.

Reschedule and cancellation fees may apply. For additional information about canceling, rescheduling, fees, refunds and the test retake policy, see How to Cancel or Reschedule Your Test (PDF) in the Bulletin.
