The TOEFL iBT test is currently accepted by 100% of Australian universities. If you’re applying to an Australian university or institution, check with them directly about their application requirements.
If you’re applying for an Australian visa, please note that the Australian Department of Home Affairs (DHA) actively reviews all English language tests it recognizes as part of its standard evaluation process. This review includes the enhanced TOEFL iBT test, which began worldwide administrations on July 26, 2023. Pending completion of this evaluation, only valid TOEFL iBT scores from tests taken before July 26, 2023, will be recognized for relevant visa sub-classes to Australia. We encourage you to access the Document Checklist tool on the DHA website for specific application requirements.
Australian education providers can continue to accept valid TOEFL iBT scores from tests taken pre- and post-July 26, 2023, and we recommend that you check with providers directly for their requirements.
If you’re applying for a New Zealand visa, be sure to register for a TOEFL iBT test at a test center. The New Zealand government does not currently accept English-language tests that are taken at home, including the TOEFL iBT Home Edition. For applications to New Zealand universities and other institutions, please check with the institution directly about their requirements.
