Lin Wang, a senior psychometrician at ETS, has a research interest in measurement issues related to the TOEFL® assessment and other ETS testing programs. He received his Ph.D. in educational psychology, with a concentration on research, measurement, and applied statistics, from Texas A&M University at College Station, TX in 1996. He is a member of both the American Education Research Association and National Council on Measurement in Education.
Wang has worked at ETS since 2001, where he has led statistical analysis work both for developing new paper-delivered assessments for the TOEFL family, including the TOEFL PBT, TOEFL iBT®, and TOEFL Junior® Comprehensive assessments, as well for the TOEFL ITP® assessment refresh. He has provided psychometric services to numerous projects for internal and external, including international clients. His research also includes reliability estimation in computer based testing applications, estimating sampling errors in test score linking, implementing different linking designs for testing programs with multiple administrations.
Prior to joining ETS, Wang worked as a senior research associate at another testing organization. There, he was responsible for providing psychometric support for a large testing program. His earlier research included studies on survey analysis, structural equation modeling, and other applications of statistical methods to data analysis and scale development.
