Abstract

The purpose of this bulletin is to set out a method of investigating the problem of correction for guessing. The method involves the use of probability theory and a model which may be made more or less complicated. Methods of estimation are set out under certain assumptions, including an estimate of the average probability of success by guessing for a given group of persons and items. Data are collected by repeated testing. Illustration data and a list of problems which should be investigated are presented.
