Abstract

This paper was presented to Division 5 of the American Psychological Association and the Psychometric Society, September 4, 1956. Factor analytic investigation of double centered score matrices may be desirable in many areas of psychological study. Use of the traditional factor analysis technique involving communalities is not appropriate in an example presented. The reasons for this are explicated and an illustration of a proper technique is provided.
