Abstract
A theory of memory is used to provide a classification of a set of memory tests used by H. P. Kelley in a factor analysis of memory ability. The memory tests in Kelley's unrotated factor matrix were rotated orthogonally, by the patterned quartimax method, to a pattern defined by this theoretical classification. The results of the rotation fitted very nicely with the theoretical classification.
