Abstract
Maximum-likelihood estimates of stepped-up reliability coefficients are developed and their sampling distributions derived. These estimates turn out to be biased. So new unbiased estimates are developed with even smaller sampling variances and recommended for general use whenever some statistical assumptions about the test halves hold. Finally, some statistical tests based on the sampling distributions are described.
