Abstract
Faculty at a school of design assigned a drawing problem to 191 student artists. Seven expert judges evaluated the drawings on three dimensions: (1) general preference, (2) technical facility, and (3) "involvement." The correlations between the average ratings on each dimension were .91, .95, and .97. The reliability of the preference ratings was .92. It was concluded that an assessment of a drawing's quality was not improved by considering separately dimensions other than simple preference.
