Abstract
In a previous paper (Lindley, 1969a) the problem of a single college selecting students from a variety of high schools was discussed and a statistical solution provided in the case where all the variances were known, as part of general development of Bayesian least squares. The present paper removes the rather unnatural constraint on the knowledge of the variances, thereby providing a more realistic statistical basis for a single college's prediction system.
