Abstract

The results of this study strongly suggest that corrections for restriction of range are unsatisfactory even for moderate degrees of selection. Initial attempts to develop more sensitive techniques by relaxing the homoscedasticity assumption were not successful but further developments along these lines are possible. A more promising approach would involve transforming variables, particularly the criterion variable, so as to achieve the required linearity and homoscedasticity.
