From 21 January 2026:

  • Scores will be reported on an updated 1–6 scale, with a more intuitive link to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • This clearer link to CEFR levels better aligns with most students’ prior English learning and assessment journeys
  • Scores are also consistent across sections, simplifying intepretation for both students and schools
